History of Harper Glacier

Named in 1913 by Archdeacon Stuck (1921, p. 121-122) for Walter Harper, a son of Arthur Harper who was an early pioneer and who was "the first man to make written reference to this mountain (McKinley [now Denali]), since Vancouver * * * in 1794." Walter Harper, Archdeacon Hudson Stuck, Henry Karstens' and Robert Tatum made the "first official ascent" of Mount McKinley [now Denali] on June 7, 1913. See Denali.
