History

Named in 1881 by Lieutenant Commander Nichols, U.S. Navy (USN), for Ralph Aston, 1841-1904, U.S. Navy (USN), a member of his party. This island was called Wright Island by Sheldon Jackson (1880, map facing p. 376).
