Named "Puerto del Baylio Baile Bazan," meaning "Port of Judge Bazan" by Lieutenant Don Jacinto CaamanoBazan" by Lieutenant Don Jacinto Caamano on July 18, 1792, for Antonio Valdez y Bazan, Spanish naval commander and Minister of Marine and Admiral (Wagner, 1937, p. 375); published as" Port Bazan" in 1853 on Russian Hydrographic Dept. Chart 1493.
