In Mount Mckinley National Park, at the head of Gorge Creek, 3.7 mi. E of Eielson Visitor Center, Alaska Range.
Named by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1931 because a curious gravel bank was discovered on top of this mountain by members of the survey party.
