History of Elizabeth Island

Named for the west point of the island which Captain James Cook, Royal Navy (RN), called "Cape Elizabeth Island," but changed to "Elizabeth Island" by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS). It was called "Isla San Aniceto" by Arteaga on August 2, 1779.
