on SW coast of Kenai Peninsula, 13 mi. SW of Seldovia, Chugach Mts.
Named on May 26, 1778 by Captain Cook (1785, v. 2, p. 387), Royal Navy (RN), for Saint Bede whose day is May 27. Cook's "Cape Bede" was about five miles south of the present point of land, on what is now called Point Adam.
