at mouth of Tuxedni Bay, Cook Inlet, 55 mi. SW of Kenai, Aleutian Range. 6.5 miles long.
Chisik Island, sits in the Tuxedni Wilderness unit, of Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge. There is private property on the island so be careful not to trespass. Snug Harbor cannery is on the southern shore of Chisik Island, it's no longer in operation.
Get to Ninilchik and head due west across Cook Inlet. Or just take a boat from Anchorage, Kenai or anywhere on Cook Inlet if it's big enough, or charter a flight.
If taking a boat watch for rip tides in the inlet. Try leaving Ninilchik an hour before the tide change on big minus tide. Watch for wind, logs, and other debris.
