Name derived from Cape Hepburn in 1934 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS). "Uhaiak" was suggested in 1934 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) as an alternative name "after a native village that has now disappeared." See Uhaiak.
