History of Cape Dyer

Named about 1827 by Captain Beechey (1831, map p. 328). The Eskimo name for Cape Dyer, as well as the old village, is Capaloa (Kapaloak), according to J. B. Driggs, a Point Hope missionary (Collier, 1906, p. 44).
