native name published by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 23), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "B(ukhta) Kizhuyak," or "Kizhuyak Bay." "Z(aliv) Shakhmanova ili Bukhta Kizhuyakskaya," "Shakmanor or Kizhuyak Bay,; given in 1839 or 1840 by Sub Lieutenant Murashev, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), and published in 1849 on Russian Hydrographic Dept. Chart. 1425.
