Located on the Arctic Coast, at Point Barrow, Arctic Plain.
Former Eskimo village reported in 1853 by John Simpson (1885, p. 237), who wrote, signifies emphatically The Point. The population was 309 and the village consisted of 54 inhabited houses. In 1882 Lieutenant Ray (1885, p. 38), USA, reported a population of 150.
