heads on E side of North Hill, trends SE to Eldorado Creek, 1.8 mi. NE of The Ears on Ear Mtn., Seward Peninsula High.
So named in 1945 by a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) field party because there is a mine shaft nearby. This appears to be the ravine referred to as "Vatney Gulch" by Steidmann and Cathcart (1922, p. 107), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
