in Baird Mts., extends along course of Noatak River, 60 mi. NE of Noatak, Brooks Range. 17 miles long.
The name "Grand Cañons of the Noatak" was first used in 1885 by S. B. McLenegan, U.S. Revenue-Cutter Service (USRCS), when he explored the Noatak River. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers used the present name in 1955. See Noatak Canyon.
