flows NW to Bering Sea, 2 mi. S of Oksenof Point, on NW coast of Unimak I., Aleutian Islands.
This stream was originally called Snake River by the 1939 U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) field party because "***this river is very crooked." The name, however, was changed the following year to Winding Creek, thought to be more appropriate "***since the stream is small to be called a river and the name snake might be thought to indicate the presence of many reptiles in it."
