History of Walkaround Creek

Named in 1931 by Marshall (1856, p. 105) as a result of his party's lighthearted approach to the difficulties they encountered in trying to cross this storm-flooded stream. His companion remarked, "'There's one safe rule in traveling this north country in summer. If you can't get across them, you can always walk around them.' So as we headed upstream once more, we christened this stream Walkaround Creek."
