flows N to Castle Creek, 3 mi. SW of Castle Mtn. and 36 mi. NW of Anaktuvuk Pass, Arctic Slope.
So named in 1949 by W. W. Patton, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), "because the creek is bordered by smooth flat upland surfaces that can be traversed by vehicles on wheels at top speed."
