History of Minook Creek

Named in the early 1890's by prospectors for John Minook, Russian halfbreed, who is reported to have found gold on Little Minook Creek about 1893. The Indian name for this stream, reported by Captain Raymond (1871, p. 113), USA, was "Clanachargut" (Klana-Kakat or mouth of the Kla River).
