History of Dora Creek

Named in 1885 by Lieutenant Allen (1887, p. 57), USA, for Miss Dora Johnston of Chicago, later his wife. Probably he applied it to the stream subsequently known as the Gilahina River. The name "Dora Creek" applied as above was reported by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1951.
