History of Bonanza Creek

A prospectors' name, applied by mistake in 1905 by D. C. Witherspoon, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), to a stream which flows N to Gold Creek near Flume Creek (Prindle, 1906, pl. 1). In 1913, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) published the name "Bonanza Creek" for its present location.
