History of Beaver Creek

Recorded on a 1901 fieldsheet by D. L. Reaburn, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS); may represent a modified translation of the Eskimo name published by L. Stoney (1900, map), U.S. Navy (USN), as "Ah-ko-se-a-ge-wick," and recorded in 1956 as "Akurekvik," by Orth. See Akurekvik Pass. Lieutenant J. C. Cantwell, shows this stream as "Arko-sher-wak," "Ark-o-sherwik," of "Beaver River" (Healy, 1887, p. 33), U.S. Revenue-Cutter Service (USRCS).
