Tozitna River or "Tozi" heads in Ray Mountains, flows west and south between the Ray, and Rampart Mountains, to Yukon River, 10 miles west-southwest of Tanana.
The simplest way to reach the Tozitna River is to float down the Yukon River from Tanana, or the road to Tanana, which ends 6 miles up river from the town, or roughly 16 miles from the Tozi.
Tanana native name, "Tozi River," reported by personnel of the Western Union Telegraph Expedition of 1867 as "Towshecargut." In 1869 Raymond (1871, p. 23), U.S. Revenue-Cutter Service (USRCS), wrote it "Tosekargut," and Dall (1870, p. 282) spelled it "Tosikakat," or "mouth of the Tozi."
Tanana natives had a village called Tozikakat, north bank of the Yukon at the mouth of Tozi River.
