History of Siksikpuk River

Eskimo name for the hoary marmot (Marmota caligata broweri); sometimes spelled sikrikpak. The name was reported in 1944 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) geologists during exploration of Naval Petroleum Reserve No.4.
