On Seward Peninsula, heading 9 mi NNW of Cloud Lake and flowing NE 30 miles to Kotzebue Sound at the village of Deering, 57 mi. SW of Kotzebue, Kotsebue-Kobuk Low.

History of Inmachuk River

Eskimo name reported in 1901 as "Ipnichuk" by Mendenhall (1902, p. 30), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Mendenhall said that the name means "big cliff"; however, the present spelling of the name would indicate it may mean "new salt water."
