History of Douglas River

Local name reported in 1904 by G. C. Martin, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). It was also locally called Andrews River (Brooks and others, 1905, p. 138). This is probably the same stream shown by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 5), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "R(eka) Chuyu," i.e. "Chuyu River."
