heads on S slope of Kavaksurak Mtn., flows SW to Noatak River, Brooks Range; 45 miles long.
Eskomo name; recorded on a 1910 fieldsheet by C. E. Giffin probably related in origin to a local Eskimo village called "An-e-yuk", reported by Ensign Howard (in Stoney, 1900, p. 67), U.S. Navy (USN). The name may mean "he goes out" or the trail through the mountains at Howard Pass.
