HistoryName published in 1924 by US@C&GS on Chart 8302. So named because of the fancied resemblance to a nun. The 1883 Coast Pilot (p. 182) shows a mountain called Dome Peak, named in 1869, by Commander R. W. Meade, U.S. Navy (USN), in the position of Nun Mtn.
