History of Walatka Mountains

Named for John Walatka, pioneer Alaska bush pilot, who for years served the communities of the Alaska Peninsula. He was instrumental in establishing many local wilderness camps including the Wien-Consolidated Airlines Kulik Camp which is located just W of these Mountains.
