On the Arctic Coata Plain between Dease Inlet and Smith Bay, 1.7 mi from the Arctic Ocean, 45 mi SE of Point Barrow, Arctic Plain.
Named in 1837 by Thomas Simpson (1843, p. 144), the first white explorer along this coast, for his native guide George Sinclair.
