Four mi. SW of the mouth of the Fossil River and 19 mi NE of Siknik Cape, in the north-central part of Saint Lawrence Island.
Eskimo name reported by Orth in 1965 to mean "constricted in the middle." The name was recorded in 1949 by Major H. B. Allen, U.S. Air Force (USAF).
