History of Wooden Island

Named by Captain George Vancouver, Royal Navy (RN), who called it "Woodens Rock " on August 24, 1794, "to commemorate Isaac Wooden ( a member of his party), who fell overboard and was drowned near this island" (Wagner, 1937, p. 422).
