History of Moser Island

Named by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) for Lieutenant Commander Jefferson Franklin Moser, 1848=1934, U.S. Navy (USN) who later became Rear Admiral. He was in command of the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF) steamer Albatross which explored salmon streams in Alaska. The results of these studies were published in 1899 and 1902.
