The feature is in Glacier Bay National Monument, 40 mi. SW of Skagway; St. Elias Mts.
The feature was named in 1896 by H. F. Reid, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), for C. A. Adams, a member of his party in 1892. Muir Glacier" (Reid, 1892, map). The entry was also listed in "Dictionary of Alaska Place Names" (Orth, 1967).
