History

Named in 1827 by Captain Beechey (1831, p. 543), Royal Navy (RN), "in compliment to the Honorable* * * Captain Samuel Jackson, C. B., * * * of whom I am indebted for my earliest connexion (sic) with the voyages of Northern Discovery."
