Eskimo name reported in 1950 by US@C&GS, referring to the white belly fur of the caribou. This feature appears to be the Ellice Point shown on the map of Dease and Thomas Simpson (Simpson, 1843, p. 134) named for The Right Honourable Edward Ellice.
