Aleut name published by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 25), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "Mys Agulyuk" or "Cape Agulyuk" and "Mys Chidakh" or "Cape Chidakh." According to R. H. Geoghegan, these names are from the Aleut "aguliq" meaning "sparrow-hawk" and "cidaq", meaning "young birds."
