Descriptvie name published in 1943 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS). This bay could possibly be the same feature which Father Veniaminov (1840, v. 1, p. 171) called "Tarasovskaya" and Which the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) called "Tarasof Bay."
