The son of Lord Chancellor Pratt, the Earl of Camden, "the Marquess became successively a Lord of the Admiralty, a Lord of the Treasury, and Lord Lieutenant Of Ireland in the ministry of William Pitt" (Stuck, 1920, p. 301).
