History of Petrel Bank

Discovered by Lieutenant Commander F. H. Sherman, U. S. N. in 1904, and named for his vessel, the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF) steamer Petrel. Name published on a 1906 U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) chart.
