History of Plover Islands

Named "Plovers Group" in 1850 by Commander Thomas E. L. Moore, R,N, after his ship, His (Her) Majesty's Ship (HMS) Plover, and originally applied to the islands NW of Ekilukruak Entrance (Leffingwell, 1919, p. 77).
