About

Currants are branching shrubs that range from a foot and a half to five feet high. Their bark is smooth without thorns. Their leaves are green turning red in autumn and the berries are red and semitransparent.

Currants are edible with a somewhat bitter taste. Many people harvest the berries for jams and jellies.
