Gerald DeBerry, 53 of Fairbanks, disappeared during a successful search for a missing family friend. A year later a miner taking a walk discovered the ATV near Faith Creek Mine at 69 Mile Steese Highway. “They found the four-wheeler stuck in the tundra at an angle that would indicate to us that the gas wasn’t getting sucked up and it probably stalled out,” she said. “The machine had been turned off and it just looked like it was just turned off and walked-away from.”

Two troopers and five volunteers searched the area Tuesday and did not find any additional evidence of De Berry’s presence, she said.
