About North American River Otter

Description



North American River Otters live along coast lines and waterways. They are sleek brown members of the weasel family and can weight up to 33 pounds and 41 inches in length. Like most weasels river otters have short legs and are very muscular. North American River Otters like most otters have small round ears, and their tails may account for one-third of their body length. In the wild the otters live an average 9 years some up to 13 years, wherein captivity they can live for 25 years.
